Redcliff 'Edwin Edition'
Edwin Fear, our eponymous founder, was born on 21st December 1823, so this year marks the 200th anniversary of the year of his birth and we were keen to commemorate this important milestone with a special watch.
As it was the original Redcliff model that Edwin’s great-great-great-grandson, Nicholas Bowman-Scargill, chose to re-established Fears Watch Company with in 2016, this felt like the most appropriate tribute to commemorate the legacy of Edwin.
Whilst the Redcliff 'Edwin Edition' retains many of the hallmarks of the original Redcliff series it is distinctly different at the same time. The crisp white numerals give a classic look that with its glossy black lacquer dial combine to create a dress-style watch with an equally contemporary feel - an elegantly understated timepiece that Edwin certainly would have been proud of.

CASE
The Redcliff 'Edwin Edition' featured an elegant and slim 38mm round case. Machined from 316L stainless steel in Switzerland, the case had a high polish finish to all surfaces, except the case back which has a beautiful spun finish and deep commemorative engraving with the watch’s unique serial number.
Measuring just 8.5mm thick, this Redcliff was designed to slip under cuffs easily with its flat sapphire crystal.
DIAL
The Fears 'Edwin Edition' features a glossy black dial achieved through a highly-polished lacquer finish. Printed on the dial are bold yet elegantly understated Roman numerals (a first for Fears in the modern-era) that are inspired by a 1920's Fears station clock from our archive in Bristol.
HANDS
Using classic sword shaped hands, painted in gloss white, that perfectly complement the elegance of the dial, case and numerals.
MOVEMENT
The Redcliff 'Edwin Edition' is powered by an all metal, Swiss-Made, quartz Ronda 512 movement, that simply displays the hours and minutes. Supremely accurate and reliable, the Ronda 512 is powered by a mercury-free Swiss-made battery.
STRAP
The Redcliff 'Edwin Edition'Â is offered on a classic black goat leather strap, that perfectly complements the glossy black of the dial.
Handcrafted from supple goat leather from the Madras region of India. Goat leather is ideal for watch straps due to its pliant yet strong nature, which allows the strap to be made exceptionally thin.
The Redcliff ‘Edwin Edition’ was designed to fit all of the straps in our range, which you can easily fit yourself without tools.
ENGRAVED CASEBACK
Each watch we make carries a unique serial number, which on this model forms part of the caseback engraving designed specifically for this limited-edition watch
Please note; this release is a limited-edition (200 pieces total) but not individually numbered, so whilst your watch will have an unique serial number (as all Fears watches do) they are not individually numbered out of 200.
