As Fears celebrates its 180th and 10th anniversaries simultaneously, the Redcliff model made for the perfect choice as not only was this the silhouette (in a quartz configuration) that the brand was re-launched with in 2016 it also takes it's name from the district of Bristol where the company was first founded in 1846.

CASE

The Redcliff 39.5 Date 'Facebook Edition' is housed in a contemporary round case with integrated lugs alongside a screw-down case back, bezel and crown. Spanning 39.5mm in diameter yet with a case thickness of only 9.98mm, this slim case combines a brushed middle-section with the polished finish of the bezel's graceful profile. The proportions of the case and its integrated lugs help ensure the watch will perfectly fit the contours of any wrist.

These special editions of the Redcliff in collaboration with Meta are the only releases (outside of the '1846 Edition' we've made for British Watchmakers' Day) to feature the Fears 180 logo (which can be found engraved on the rear side of one of the lugs). 

CASEBACK

The Redcliff 39.5 Date 'Facebook Edition' comes with an open exhibition caseback that offers an unobstructed view of our finely decorated movement (and customised Fears-branded rotor) - the first time a Meta collaboration has featured an open caseback.

DIAL

The Redcliff 39.5 Date 'Facebook Edition' features a multi-level dial with a gradated blue central dial (using the primary Facebook Pantone references) with a white painted outer minute track.

The baton indexes are crafted from a block of brass before being diamond polished and coated in precious rhodium. The 12 o'clock index on our regular Redcliff Collection features a subtle reference to our heritage (the shape and form of the towers that hoist Bristol's world famous Clifton Suspension Bridge) whereas on the 'Meta Collection' they reference another iconic symbol - the app icon.

At 3 o’clock a date window is cut into the dial revealing a colour-matched date disc featuring numerals in our own bespoke ‘Edwin’ typeset. The window itself features a shallow bevel running around all four sides to aid legibility whilst reading the date and gives the optical illusion of it appearing larger.

The indices have been hand-filled with Grade A Super-LumiNova before being carefully hand-applied to the dial. 

HANDS

The Redcliff 39.5 Date 'Facebook Edition' has distinctive ‘Fears’-shaped hands that are tri-bevelled and diamond polished before in this example being finished in a coating of precious rhodium (thus matching the indices).

During the day the tri-bevelled edges will catch the light brilliantly, allowing the time to be read easily. Whilst in low-light conditions, the bright Grade A lume glows with a strong blue-green colour.

MOVEMENT

The Redcliff 39.5 Date 'Facebook Edition' is powered by a customised Swiss-made, automatic La Joux-Perret G100 movement. Winding itself when worn on the wrist, this movement features a quick-set date, a generous power reserve of 68 hours and a decorated winding rotor.

BRACELET & STRAP

The Redcliff 39.5 Date 'Facebook Edition' comes with both our bespoke 3-link stainless steel bracelet and an additional Alcantara ® strap.

Bracelet

Featuring solid screw links, the bracelet combines brushed and polished elements and has a substantial feel while the silky-smooth movement of the links ensure a comfortable fit around the wrist. The bracelet can be adjusted for a perfect fit with both 6mm and 8mm screw links but also adjusted 'on the move' via a push button micro-adjustment feature located within the trigger-release fold-over clasp. This ensures a comfortable fit always.

Blue Alcantara® Strap

The Redcliff 39.5 Date 'Facebook Edition' will also be supplied with a handmade strap crafted from Alcantara® (a cutting-edge material developed in Italy) that offers unrivalled aesthetic, technical and tactile qualities. 

Alcantara® is extremely soft to touch and provides a luxurious feel - it has a similar feel to the nap of suede but is considerably harder-wearing with a supple feel. Whilst similar to suede, it is far more hard-wearing (and crucially, is water-resistant) and whilst commonly found in the interior of luxury sports cars it offers excellent properties as a watch strap.

The strap is lined in a premium anti-allergenic calf leather and embossed with both our logo and ‘Handmade in Belgium’ - this is both soft and comfortable and will extend the lifetime of your strap.

INDIVIDUALLY NUMBERED

Each watch we make carries a unique serial number. Engraved between the 20mm lugs at 12 o’clock, this number helps us identify your watch and its history.

AMOS BOX

All Fears watches are presented in a slim, rectangular, wooden box made of solid ash and stained in our bespoke shade of blue. This luxury box was inspired by traditional slim Fears watch boxes used in the past, in which the watch lies flat. Recognising the company's heritage, we called this box the Amos, after the names of both the 2nd and 3rd Managing Directors.

The top of the box is discreetly engraved with the Fears logo and features a gentle bevel around its edges, whilst the interior is lined in genuine cream suede. The box is secured by a polished chrome push button, keeping your watch safe and secure.
