Boutique & Club Exclusive

Please note: the Redcliff 39.5 Date 'Boutique Edition' has now been discontinued and has entered the Fears Archive - very limited remaining pieces available again and shipping from July (if you would like any further information please contact us)

Hand built in England.

Taking its name from the Bristol street where the company was first founded in 1846, the new Fears Redcliff Collection is designed to be an elegant and sophisticated everyday timepiece.

  • Case: 39.5mm, 316L stainless steel, brushed and polished, 20mm lug width
  • Dial: Mallard green, sunburst finish, white printing with silver accents
  • Bracelet: 3-link, stainless steel bracelet with screw links and fold-over clasp with micro-adjust (plus both a blue and a tan textile strap)
  • Movement: LJP G100, time and date, automatic, 68hr power reserve
  • Water Resistance: 150 metres (15 ATM)

CASE

The Redcliff 39.5 Date is housed in a contemporary round case with integrated lugs alongside a screw-down case back, bezel and crown. Spanning 39.5mm in diameter yet with a case thickness of only 9.98mm, this slim case combines a bushed middle-section with the polished finish of the bezel's graceful profile.

CASEBACK

The Redcliff 39.5 Date comes with the option of either:

  • Open exhibition caseback - offering an unobstructed view of the finely decorated movement (and custom Fears Blue rotor adorned with the Bristol flower).
  • Closed caseback - offering the perfect canvas for personalisation with a custom engraving (please discover engraving options here).

DIAL

The Redcliff 39.5 Date ‘Boutique Edition’ features a Mallard Green dial that now becomes the third-offering in Fears’ series of boutique editions. This special dark green has hints of grey and blue that recreates the rich colours that adorn the head of the mallard drake duck.

Expertly made in Germany, the colour of the dial is achieved using a galvanic coating of 99.9% pure silver before being hand-painted with a translucent varnish which incorporates drops of pigment to produce the exact desired tone.

The main section of the dial features a sunburst finish to the surface with a finely-milled CNC grooves on the lowered chapter ring. White and silver printing contrast brightly against this unique take on green and ensure that despite sharing an exclusive colour, each of Fears ‘Boutique Editions’ are uniquely different.

At 3 o’clock a date window is cut into the dial revealing a colour-matched date disc featuring numerals in our own bespoke ‘Edwin’ typeset. The window itself features a shallow bevel running around all four sides to aide legibility whilst reading the date and gives the optical illusion of it appearing larger.

The baton indexes are crafted from a block of brass before being diamond polished and coated in precious rhodium. The 12 o'clock index also features a subtle reference to another great Bristolian historical reference (the shape and form of the towers that hoist the famous Clifton Suspension Bridge).

Each indices has been hand-filled with X1-Grade Super-LumiNova in Switzerland before being carefully hand-applied to the dial.

HANDS

The Redcliff 39.5 Date's distinctive ‘Fears’-shaped hands are tri-bevelled and diamond polished before in this example being finished in a coating of rhodium (thus matching the indices).

During the day the tri-bevelled edges will catch the light brilliantly, allowing the time to be read easily. Whilst in low-light conditions, the bright X1-Grade lume (a first for the core collection) glows with a strong blue colour colour and stays charged throughout the night - making for the perfect travelling companion.

MOVEMENT

The Redcliff 39.5 Date is powered by a customised Swiss-made, automatic La Joux-Perret G100 movement. Winding itself when worn on the wrist this movement features a quick-set date, a generous power reserve of 68 hours and a decorated winding rotor.

BRACELET & STRAPS

The Redcliff 39.5 Date comes with both a bespoke 3-link stainless steel bracelet or a pewter grey barenia leather strap, and with either choice will also be accompanied by and a 3D-woven textile strap.

Bracelet

Featuring solid screw links, the bracelet combines brushed and polished elements and has a substantial feel while the silky-smooth movement of the links ensure a comfortable fit around the wrist. The bracelet can be adjusted for a perfect fit with both 6mm and 8mm screw links but also adjusted 'on the move' via a push button micro-adjustment featured located within the trigger-release fold-over clasp. This ensures a comfortable fit always.

The perfect fit!

When you purchase a Redcliff 39.5 Date we can adjust the bracelet size for you before sending it. Please contact us by email with your order number and wrist size and we’ll do the rest. We will provide any spare links in an envelope with your watch.

Leather Strap

Each Redcliff 39.5 Date Pewter Grey can be fitted with a handmade Pewter Grey strap crafted from Barenia leather with darker grey stitching, lending a contemporary feel to the watch.

The premium leather used for this strap takes its name from the village of Barr in Alsace, from where it originates. Traditionally used for saddles, this smooth calfskin leather requires a complex tanning process, known by only a small number of craftsmen.

Lined in genuine Alcantara® dyed a deep shade of blue, this lining is supremely soft against the skin yet resistant against wear. This strap is finished with Fears' bespoke pin buckle (featuring the Fears Cypher).

Extra Strap

Included with each Redcliff 39.5 Date 'Boutique Edition' are two woven textile straps made from a tightly 3D woven nylon material with an Alcantara lining, quick-release spring bars and finished with Fears' new bespoke pin buckle (featuring the Fears Cypher).

Customise

You can customise your Redcliff 39.5 Date with any strap designed for a 20mm lug width, including any strap from our range, which you can easily fit yourself without tools.

    INDIVIDUALLY NUMBERED

Each watch we make carries a unique serial number. Engraved between the 20mm lugs at 12 o’clock, this number helps us identify your watch and its history.

    AMOS BOX

All Fears watches are presented in a slim, rectangular, wooden box made of solid ash and stained in our bespoke shade of blue. This luxury box was inspired by traditional slim Fears watch boxes used in the past, in which the watch lies flat. Recognising the company's heritage, we called this box the Amos, after the names of both the 2nd and 3rd Managing Directors.

The top of the box is discreetly engraved with the Fears logo and features a gentle bevel around its edges, whilst the interior is lined in genuine cream suede. The box is secured by a polished chrome push button, keeping your watch safe and secure.

    ENGRAVED PERSONAL TO YOU

Fears offers an engraving service whereby a watch can be made personal to its new owner. We work with one of the UK's leading 3D laser engravers who can engrave initials, a date, or a special verse on your watch.
