Brunswick 40.5 Jump Hour 'Edwardian Edition'

Brunswick 40.5 Jump Hour 'Edwardian Edition'

The Sterling Jump Hour

Created exclusively for the Alliance of British Watch & Clockmakers British Watchmakers' Day and only available to purchase from the event on the day (8th March, 2025).

The Fears Brunswick 40.5 Jump Hour 'Edwardian Edition' takes a similar form to the stainless steel Brunswick 40.5 Jump Hour, however, this edition is crafted from precious, hallmarked, sterling silver (925).

After last year's British Watchmakers' Day exclusive, the Brunswick 38 '1924 Edition', we felt it right to give our most coveted model the sterling silver treatment.

Just 10 pieces of these precious watches will be made, each numbered, hallmarked and featuring a dial inspired and influenced by the Edwardian-era pocket watches found within the Fears Archive.

Donation

Each watch also comes in a special commemorative packaging and a portion of the profits will be donated to the Alliance of British Watch & Clockmakers.

    • Case: 40.5mm, Sterling Silver (925), polished, 20mm lug width
    • Dial: Porcelain white, polished lacquered finish with black printing

    • Limited Edition: 10 pieces only
    • Price: £5,450 (inc. VAT)

      Hand built in Britain.

Graceful and complex, the curvaceous Brunswick silhouette takes its inspiration from a gentleman’s cushion case watch in the Fears archives, first made in 1924.

      CASE

The 'Edwardian Edition's elegant 40.5mm cushion-shaped case has no flat surfaces, with even the solid case back having a gentle sweep. This special edition is made from solid Sterling Silver and crafted entirely from this understated metal, the case’s glancing curves are machined from 925 Sterling Silver with a deep polish all over, highlighting the beauty and radiance of the metal.

The case and the solid caseback each bear hallmarks from the London Assay Office, and, following a Fears tradition, our company's registered makers mark comprise the initials of the Managing Director when the watch was built (in this case: ‘NBS’ for our (4th) Managing Director, Nicholas Bowman-Scargill).

The traditional and bespoke ‘onion’-shaped winding crown has fine grooves catch the light, adding a touch of radiance to the edge of the case. This crown is set with a flawless diamond (which on Fears watches signifies a case made entirely from a precious metal).

      DIAL

Multiple layers of hand-polished pure white lacquer make up the bright white of the 'Edwardian Edition's dial. Expertly made in Germany, the polished lacquer has a glossy appearance, quite unlike a paint or varnish that gives true depth to the colour.

As this a ‘jump hour’ watch there are no hour numerals on the dial, instead the hour is displayed via a window at 12 o’clock on an hour disc also coated in a bright white lacquer.

      Edwardian Elegance

As its name suggests this watch has been greatly inspired by the Edwardian-era pocket watches in the Fears Archive. From the crisp white and black to the elegant bespoke numerals created in-house, especially for this watch. The Fears makers mark at 12 o'clock is a recreation of the how our name appeared on dials in the early 1900s.

      HAND

With the hours displayed neatly in a window, the Brunswick 40.5 Jump Hour 'Edwardian Edition' has a black hand-varnished minute hand which is all that is required for telling the time.

The ‘Fears-shaped’ minute hand features a bevel running down its centre aiding in catching the light and making this the most legible watch we've ever made.

      MOVEMENT

As with all Fears Jump Hours, the 'Edwardian Edition' is powered by a Swiss made, automatic winding JJ01 movement with a module developed in-house by fellow British watch company, Christopher Ward.

The base of this precise movement is a Sellita SW200, with its incredible accuracy having been regulated to Chronometer grade.

      STRAP

The Brunswick 40.5 Jump Hour 'Edwardian Edition' is fitted with a handmade Maple Red strap crafted from Alcantara® a cutting-edge material developed in Italy) that offers unrivalled aesthetic, technical and tactile qualities. This deep red is a cosy, warm colour, reminiscent of leaves falling from a maple tree.

Alcantara® is extremely soft to touch and provides a luxurious feel - it has a similar feel to the nap of suede but is considerably harder-wearing with a supple feel. Whilst similar to suede, it is far more hard-wearing (and crucially, is water-resistant) and whilst commonly found in the interior of luxury sports cars it offers excellent properties as a watch strap.

The strap is lined in a premium anti-allergenic calf leather and embossed with both our logo and ‘Handmade in Belgium’ - this is both soft and comfortable and will extend the lifetime of your strap.

The strap is fastened by a bespoke and matching hallmarked sterling silver pin buckle.

      Customise

You can customise your Brunswick 40.5 Jump Hour 'Edwardian Edition' with any strap designed for a 20mm lug width, including any strap from our range, which you can easily fit yourself without tools.

        INDIVIDUALLY NUMBERED

Each watch we make carries a unique serial number. Engraved between the 20mm lugs at 12 o’clock, this number helps us identify your watch and its history.

        Limited Edition

These watches also have a limited edition number, engraved on the caseback, which identifies them as one of a very small hand-built production run of just ten watches.

        AMOS BOX

All Fears watches are presented in a slim, rectangular, wooden box made of solid ash and stained in our bespoke shade of blue. This luxury box was inspired by traditional slim Fears watch boxes used in the past, in which the watch lies flat. Recognising the company's heritage, we called this box the Amos, after the names of both the 2nd and 3rd Managing Directors.

The top of the box is discreetly engraved with the Fears logo and features a gentle bevel around its edges, whilst the interior is lined in genuine cream suede. The box is secured by a polished chrome push button, keeping your watch safe and secure.
